TopFishing: a legitimate shop, a difficult website.

Is TopFishing legitimate?

Yes. The website identifies a physical store in Zagreb and the company behind it, Sollers Grupa d.o.o. My order was delivered complete, with every product brand new and in excellent condition. This is a real business with a real shop, not a dropshipping front — and that matters, because the Croatian market has relatively few online tackle specialists.

Website usability: 3/10

Rather than simply saying "the website is bad", here is what I actually observed while shopping:

• The website feels outdated in both structure and design.
• Product categories can be difficult to navigate.
• The brands section is difficult to browse, and brand listings are not presented in a particularly intuitive order.
• The visual design uses strong colours that make the site uncomfortable to browse for extended periods.
• Product information is sometimes limited.
• The search function is genuinely useful and makes finding specific products much easier.
• Checkout is relatively straightforward once you have found what you want.
• Loading speed was good throughout the review.

In practice: use the search bar, ignore the categories, and the site becomes workable.

Shipping to Italy

The TopFishing website currently lists a €20 shipping fee for Italy. It also displays a free-shipping threshold of €5,000, which is unusually high for an online fishing retailer — for all practical purposes, delivery to Italy is never free.

Real-world experience: the order arrived after approximately 7 business days, with all products in perfect condition and no contact with customer service required at any point. Slow and relatively expensive, but entirely trouble-free.

The products

My order was not made of generic items: it included Gosen lines and a DUO lure — specialist light game and ajing tackle. The shop carries a wide range of fishing brands, including names like Gosen, Varivas, YGK, Palms, Owner, DUO, Hayabusa and Yo-Zuri, although the selection within individual brands can vary considerably. Many brands on the list, but relatively few products inside some of them.

Price comparison

I compared the two Gosen products I bought at TopFishing with their prices at another European specialist fishing retailer. At the time of comparison, both products were available at a lower price from the alternative retailer.

This suggests TopFishing is not necessarily the cheapest option for these products, although prices can vary between retailers and over time.

Bottom line

TopFishing is a legitimate store with genuine specialist stock, and my order arrived in perfect condition without any problems. But for an Italian customer, the combination of a difficult website, €20 shipping and a 7-business-day wait makes it a shop I would only use for something I cannot find elsewhere in Europe — not for a regular restock. Taken together, that makes this a 3.0 out of 5 shopping experience.
