No sponsors, no fluff. I review the full buying experience — prices, shipping, what the shop got right, what I would change — and the rods, reels, lures and line I actually bought.
Most of my fishing happens in southern Italy — rocky coasts, clear water, early mornings. I focus on light spinning and light rock fishing, the kind of tackle that lets you travel light, work close to the rocks and still reach the fish.
I go by the reviewer because the focus should be on the gear, the shop and the fishing — not on me. Every review here covers the full picture: the buying experience, shipping, price, what the shop did well and what I would improve, plus the rods, reels, lures and line I actually bought.

Every review covers the things that matter on the coast: casting feel, weight, durability in salt air, value for money — and the full story of buying it from a European tackle shop.
Light fixed-spool reels rated for salt air, smooth drag and travel-friendly weight.
From short light rock rods to specialist light spinning rods for the Mediterranean coast.
Hard lures, soft plastics and metal jigs tested on bass, seabream and wrasse over rocky ground.
Braids, fluorocarbons and leaders chosen for finesse, abrasion resistance and knot strength.
Light spinning is not just about using a small rod. It is an active, mobile way of fishing where you hunt predatory fish with light tackle, small lures and a lot of walking. I wrote a short guide based on how I fish the southern Italian coast — gear, mistakes, lessons and all.

“You are not waiting for the fish to come to you. You go and find it.”
A mindset for light spinning and light rock fishing.
No sponsored setups — just the rods, reels, line and lures I have settled on after years of light spinning and light rock fishing on the coast.
Main line
For finesse lines, Gosen is the best on the market without a shadow of a doubt.
Leader
For the price it is very good material. Better options exist, but often at a much higher price. This is the leader I use and recommend most.
Rod
Not the best rod. Very soft like all Yamaga blanks — almost trout-like — and I am not a huge fan, but the budget does not yet allow a top-tier Clear Blue rod.
Reel
Not the best reel either, but again the budget is tight and for the price it was the best I found. The Shimano Vanquish 1000 is the dream — maybe soon.
Jigheads & Softbaits
I started with Major Craft and AliExpress. Today Major Craft feels like a white-label brand with little quality for the price, but I still keep plenty of AliExpress heads for new spots. For finesse fishing, TICT and MegaBass are what I use most — mainly TICT.
